Lanka: Corriedale (oranssi) ja Romney (ruskea), itse kehrättyjä. Oranssi oli koko ajan ohuempaa kuin ruskea. Ruskeassa (ensin kehrätty) paksuuden vaihtelu oli välillä aika suurta. Toimii silti. Mulla on joku pakkomielle neuloa itsekehrätyistä ensin ja sitten vasta ostolangoista. 68 g. Tuo määrän arviointi oli vaikeaa. Ohjeen mukaan kerä per väri. Värejä on yhteensä kahdeksan eli 400 g - ei taatusti! Voisiko ohjeisiin laittaa myös työn painon?
Puikot: 2,75 mm ja 3,25 mm. Liuta sukkiksia, bambuja ja Knitpicksejä, kun ei ollut oikean kokoista pyöröä. Ei, vaikka puikkoja on taatusti yhtä paljon kuin hyvin varustetussa lankakaupassa.

The guessing of the amount of yarn needes wasn't easy. The pattern says a ball of each colour. There are eight colours, so 400 grams - never! Couldn't there be a mention of the weight of the finished work?

Ohje on nerokas. Alakaaviossa ei ollut mitään ihmeellistä, mutta tuo päälaki. Nuo "kukat" ovat kaaviossa näkyvissä kokonaisina, mutta kaavion neulominen aloitetaankin sen keskeltä. Ei meinannut mennä millään meikäläisen kaaliin, vaan piti pohtia oikein urakalla, että miksi. Ohjeessa tämä on toteuttu tosi monella eri vihreän ja punaisen sävyllä, mutta on ihan ok näin kaksivärisenäkin. Ja helpompi neuloa. Kyllä oli alussa kirjoneuleen vääntäminen vuoden tauon jälkeen hankalaa.
The pattern was made by a genious. The first chart is normal, but the second! The "flowers" are in the chart as a whole, but the knitting starts from the middle of the chart. I needed really hard thinking to understand why. The tam in the pattern was knitted with several shades of green and red, but this works fine in two colours as well. And is easiers to knit.
Pingottaminen oli jälleen kerran vaikeaa - lautasen päällä tein, mutta taisi olla aavistuksen liian iso lautanen, sillä nyt tuntuu, että resoriin voisi pujotella ohkasta kuminauhaa. Tai ainakin sitä varmasti tarvitaan hetken käytön jälkeen. Ehkä tämä on vihdoin ja viimeinen se "pipo" joka pysyy tässäkin päässä... Tosin, mitä minä sitten teen kaikilla niillä huiveilla?
Blocking was once again a difficult task - I did it on a plate, but the plate was probably a tiny bit too big. I suppose I'll have to weave in an elastic band... But maybe, finally this is the cap that will stay on my head.... Though, what will I do with all the scarves then?
This week's question: What would you consider the perfect amount of stash?
Oh, no. Last autumn, when I last did an inventory on my stash, I had 25 kg of yarn. Since then.... I'd guess 30 kg. Plus all the wool for spinning. Plus the self spun. Plus the ones I have forgotten. Don't dare to think.
But still this isn't the perfect amount. No, because the question shouldn't be about the amount but about the quality. A perfect stash has something for every need.
The first package to my spoilee went off on Friday. Now the only thing I can do is to wait patiently...
